As a small water system, one of the most economical means for compliance may be the point of use approach. There are many cost and operational benefits for small systems to utilize this program for compliance including little to no up front engineering and design costs, no additional permitting to build needed, no handling of caustic materials to alter influent water, in many cases no change in operator level required, replacement elements are disposable so there is no hazardous waste created

Watts Premier is interested in providing assistance to communities through education and hands on guidance on how to implement successful POU program, for arsenic and other water contaminants such as radium, perchlorate, fluoride, nitrates/nitrites and others. Watts Premier has been working directly with small communities and the various state regulatory agencies in order to develop a template for launching a successful low cost point of use compliance program.

Watts Premier was directly involved with the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) in their pilot project study that started in 2003. through this project ADEQ has released their guidance document on how small communities in Arizona can successfully implement a point of use compliance program.
