  • Community Feedback

    Dear Watts Premier-

On behalf of the Rotary Club of Anthem, Arizona, I would like to thank you for your donation to our silent auction. Thanks to you and many other donors we were able to raise thousands of dollars for our local schools and other worthy causes.

We appreciate the support of good corporate citizens like Watts Premier. By helping local groups such as Rotary you are helping the community more than you know.

    Sincerely,

    Sam Crump, President

    Rotary Club of Anthem, Arizona

Donation was for the Rotary Roundup:

Anthem Rotary had a rip roarin' time on Saturday, November 15th. We were at the Roadrunner Saloon in New River, enjoying Chicken & Ribs BBQ and boot-scootin' to Surefire, a western band. We had a terrific silent auction and a couple of bonfires to keep us warm under the November skies.

Thanks to all the great folks who donated an auction item. As a result of everyone's efforts, we raised nearly $9,000 for local schools, a local drug/alcohol rehabilitation center, and our orphanage project in Uganda.

A note regarding the Uganda Children’s Fund

The Sunrise House is being built in western Uganda in the town of Ft. Portal. Through private donations a house and two acres have been purchased. Now additional funds are needed to renovate the building, provide water and electricity and necessary furnishings. Once the house is completed and occupied by up to 50 students, on-going support will be needed for annual school fees.

The Sunrise House will be a “student hostel” where up to 50 boys and girls can have a safe and clean place to live. The house is located near local schools, including a girls’ school across the road. The house will have a live-in house director, and the children will grow most of their own food on the property.

This project is being directed by The Rwenzori Community Service Development organization in Ft. Portal, Uganda. The Chairman of the organization is retired Anglican Bishop Eustace Kamanyire. Bishop Kamanyire has been a leader in charitable causes in Uganda for over 40 years. The Rotary partners in the effort are the Rotary Club of Kabarole (Uganda), the Rotary Club of Sebastopol Sunrise (CA) and the Rotary Club of Anthem (AZ).
